High-capacity link for a media production platform
Wave-based interconnection from client sites to data centers
Context
A media production platform operating multiple studios and editing suites needed to transport massive daily volumes of video files: raw footage, 4K/8K exports, multi-track audio, archives, and graphic assets. Teams were distributed across several sites:
- Shooting studios
- Remote real-time production rooms
- Post-production suites
- Centralized storage
- Encoding and distribution servers
Existing connections—a mix of shared Ethernet links and cloud solutions—were no longer sufficient to:
- Transfer raw footage on time
- Synchronize storage arrays
- Ensure real-time read/write access on remote NAS
- Meet editing and export deadlines
- Deliver content quickly to broadcasters
The platform required stable, high-capacity optical transport capable of supporting:
- Sustained throughput
- Ultra-low latency
- Unpredictable traffic peaks (shooting days, live streaming)
- Non-standard protocols for remote production (Ereca)
- True network resilience
The challenge: ensure large media flows move in real time, without degradation or interruption, while respecting the specific needs of media workflows.
Solution Deployed
To handle data volumes and guarantee production continuity, ielo deployed a dedicated DWDM infrastructure connecting the various production sites to the main data centers.
