Use case

Multi-site backbone for a local authority

Context

A local authority wanted to modernize the interconnection of its various sites: administrative buildings, technical services, IT centers, cultural venues, public institutions, and several sensitive locations.

The existing network, built over the years using a mix of legacy links, caused:

  • Variable bandwidth between sites
  • Unpredictable latency
  • Difficulty supporting new uses (video conferencing, backups, collaboration tools)
  • Limited resilience in case of incidents
  • Increasing complexity for the IT department

With the progressive centralization of digital services and growing demands (cloud, VDI, disaster recovery, video surveillance), the authority needed a robust, stable, and scalable optical backbone capable of supporting its digital architecture for years to come.

Solution Deployed

To homogenize network performance across the territory, ielo deployed a multi-site backbone based on high-capacity Waves, connecting the authority’s key sites to its main IT center.
