Discover our infrastructure

ielo deploys and operates a next-generation fiber infrastructure designed to meet the demands of professional use.

Built in-house and managed with full independence, it delivers reliability, performance, and visibility to our partners.

Our infrastructure at a glance

Long-haul and metropolitan networks, large data center presence, independent PoPs, and nationwide coverage tailored to the concrete needs of our partners.

  • 21000+

km of metropolitan network deployed across regions, connecting sites as close as possible to end uses

  • 12000+

km of long-haul DWDM backbone deployed and operated in-house, ensuring performance and redundancy

  • 200

200 data centers connected to the ielo network

  • 80%

of businesses eligible for the ielo network

Long-haul backbone

Capacity & performance

Our national backbone relies on a homogeneous 100G/400G DWDM architecture, deployed, operated, and maintained entirely in-house. The full route is documented and reflected in our GIS tools. Each link is measured, referenced, and monitored by our teams. The result: controlled latency, simplified capacity scaling, and guaranteed service continuity.

Metropolitan network

Dedicated Optical Local Loop

We operate a metropolitan network spanning more than 21,000 km, enabling the connection of business sites across the entire territory. Each connection relies on a dedicated local loop, no third-party infrastructure. Our own network, and nothing else.

The network is monitored 24/7 by our operations team. We act proactively in the event of major outages.

Security & redundancy

Routes are diversified and access paths are duplicated when required by site constraints. Optical paths are designed to minimize single points of failure and ensure true redundancy. Our network is monitored 24/7, with stringent SLAs and a 4-hour MTTR delivered by our teams.

Data center & PoP interconnection

Our network connects nearly 200 data centers across France and Europe. That presence allows our partners to deploy their equipment, benefit from the full range of ielo solutions, and connect to other clouds or operators.

Each site is connected to our long-haul backbone and benefits from advanced redundancy options, including dual (or multiple) access paths and physically diverse optical routes. This extensive footprint enables us to deliver reliable, consistent connectivity across all locations.

A solid network, concrete solutions

Our in-house operated network is the technical foundation behind our fiber, transport, IP transit, and data center services.

Your questions, our answers… Simple, the ielo way!

Infrastructure operator, fiber, backbone… We clearly answer the most common questions about fiber infrastructure operators.

What is a fiber infrastructure operator?

A fiber infrastructure operator deploys and operates a physical fiber-optic network. It builds the infrastructure, backbone, access network, data center connectivity, and more, and makes it available to service providers. At ielo, we control this entire technical chain, from network engineering and design through to field operations and day-to-day network management.

What’s the difference between an infrastructure operator and a commercial operator?

The infrastructure operator owns and manages the network. The commercial operator, in turn, uses that network to deliver services (internet access, telephony, cloud services, etc.) to end customers. At ielo, our position is clear: we are neutral and independent, 100% infrastructure-focused.
