ielo accelerates FTTO deployment across Brittany
ielo, the independent French provider of Very High-Speed fibre infrastructure for telecom operators, data centres, and public sector organisations, announces the completion of its FTTO (Fiber To The Office) network deployment across Brittany. Eight new urban areas, Dinan, Guingamp, Lannion, Lorient, Morlaix, Quimper, Saint-Brieuc, and Vannes, have now joined Rennes and Brest, bringing the total number of covered metropolitan areas in the region to ten.
As the gradual shutdown of France’s legacy copper network continues across Brittany, with the first effective switch-offs taking place since March 2025 in Vannes and central Rennes, the transition to Very High-Speed connectivity has become more important than ever for the competitiveness and attractiveness of local economies.
While the region has seen significant progress in FTTH (Fiber To The Home) deployment, with coverage increasing from 18.4% to 78.2% between 2018 and 2025[1], this momentum also highlights the need for complementary infrastructure capable of supporting the most demanding digital requirements of businesses, operators, data centres, and public sector organisations.
As the copper network continues to be phased out and the 2030 horizon approaches, organisations are increasingly making long-term decisions regarding their connectivity strategy.
