With his nationwide very high-speed backbone, ielo unlocks new connectivity potential for businesses

ielo, the neutral Very High-Speed infrastructure operator dedicated to business connectivity, has significantly expanded its national fibre network over the past two years, building a large-scale, high-capacity, and fully standardised infrastructure.
Today, ielo operates a next-generation fibre network spanning more than 21,000 km across France. Through its operator partners, data centres, and digital ecosystem partners, this infrastructure enables businesses to access connectivity services of up to 10 Gbps, anywhere within the network footprint.

In an increasingly digital economy, connectivity has become a key driver of business competitiveness. While the range of Very High-Speed connectivity solutions available to organisations has expanded in recent years, not all services offer the same levels of performance, availability, and security required to support digital applications that have become mission-critical for modern businesses.

Recognising this need early on, ielo made the strategic decision in 2016 to design, deploy, and operate its own fibre network based on a Dedicated Optical Local Loop (BLOD) architecture, built exclusively for businesses and designed to deliver secure, high-performance connectivity with guaranteed bandwidth.

Now ahead of the deployment targets established during its fundraising round two years ago, ielo operates a network exceeding 21,000 km, with a theoretical capacity of 96 x 400 Gbps.

The operator now covers more than 120 metropolitan areas and over 3,000 municipalities, enabling its operator partners to deliver 10 Gbps connectivity services to businesses throughout the entire network footprint.

As a result, ielo has become the first and only national fibre network in France capable of offering 10 Gbps connectivity for business applications nationwide, combined with enterprise-grade service guarantees, including:

  • Guaranteed bandwidth
  • 24/7 4-hour Service Restoration Guarantee (SLA)
  • Multiple resilience and security options

Thanks to this nationwide deployment, ielo is actively supporting the digital transformation of French businesses. Today:

  • 80% of large enterprises and mid-sized companies (ETIs) can access connectivity services of up to 10 Gbps across ielo’s coverage area.
  • 60% of businesses in France are already eligible for these Very High-Speed services.

At the same time, ielo continues to optimise its deployment model and increase operational efficiency, particularly in dense urban areas, by pre-positioning fibre infrastructure closer to end users to accelerate service delivery.
